ALBA ROCA, violin
She was born in Berga (Barcelona) and began studying violin in her city with Jesús Badia. Later in Barcelona she continued with Eva Graubin, Sergio Prieto and Corrado Bolsi.
She introduced into the baroque violin with Emilio Moreno and followed baroque interpretation courses in the Department of Ancient Music of the Conservatoire Superieur CNR de Paris.
She received classes of specialists in ancient music like Barry Sargent, François Fernandez, Daniel Cuiller, Enrico Gatti, Jean Tubery and Patrick Cohen, among others.
At present she works with prestigious orchestras and international formations specialized in historical interpretation like: Le Concert des Nations, Les Arts Florissants, Le Concert Français, Gli Incogniti, Al Ayre Español, Orquestra Barroca Catalana, Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, El Concierto Español, Academia 1750, Concerto Soave, Le Café Zimmerman, La Fenice, etc.
She collaborates regularly with recognized specialists, such as Jordi Savall, William Christie, Eduardo López Banzo, Mónica Hugget, Pierre Hantaï, Amandine Beyer... and she records for Alia Vox, Arsis, Harmonia Mundi, Alpha, Mirare and Zig-Zag Territoires.
She is an integral part of Quartet Albada -who has recorded the Mozart-Lichtenthal’s Requiem-, and the ensembles Gli Incogniti and L’Assamblée des Honnestes Curieux, who has obtained the Diapason d’Or de l’année (2006) with their last CD, Rebel.
In the teaching field, is professor of violin at the Conservatori Isaac Albéniz de la Diputació de Girona. Since 2007 teaches baroque violin at the Aula de Música Antiga directed by the same school with students from different parts of Spain.
Since 2009 is co-artistic director of the Early Music Festival in Berga.
